SASci's upcoming winter/spring meeting will take place in conjunction with the Society for CrossCultural Research (SCCR) and the AAA Children & Childhood Interest Group (AAACIG).

We welcome your contributions and look forward to exciting research, inspiring debates and an amicable get-together!

Call for Papers

Our meeting is open to all topics and discussions and we will find a panel for your individual paper. Alternatively, you are welcome to submit your own panel or sign up for already forming panels and roundtables on:

• Cognition and Cross-Cultural Research
• Anthropological Perspectives on Evolutionary Psychology
• Science and non-science in anthropology: Irreconcilable differences or odd couple?"
• Bringing empirical theory and formalism closer to the experienced world
• Has the four-field approach to anthropology run its course?
• What are important questions anthropologists should be asking

You can also take opportunity of the workshop format to organize workshops for our younger members or take part in the student poster session.

SASci values and encourages student contributions at our annual meeting. We offer plenty of opportunity for you to

Becoming a member

As an open and dynamic group we would like to enable membership for everyone by keeping fees as low as possible:

Professional membership dues are $10 per year.

Student membership for SASci is free!

You need not be a member of the American Anthropological Association to become a member of SASci. However, if you already have a AAA membership you can also join the Society for Anthropological Sciences (SAS) section. This will cost $10 section dues as we do not have the option to offer 'free' membership for AAA sections. Joining SAS also makes you a member of SASci.

What is SASci?

The Society for Anthropological Sciences was organized to promote empirical research and social science in anthropology. The members of SASci want to further the development of anthropological science as empirical knowledge based on testable theory, sound research design and systematic methods for the collection and analysis of data. We seek to fulfill the historic mission of anthropology to describe and explain the range of variation in human biology, society, and culture across time and space.

We welcome scholars from all backgrounds and value the different shapes and shades anthropology as a social science can take.
